Probably not too much more scape. They're mostly Haps and Peacocks which prefer open swimming space. There are a few Mbuna so that's why I have some rocks. Open to the Synodontis idea though. 👍

Honestly stability is far more desirable than chasing parameters which could lead to constant swings, not great for fish health. As long as your conditions are near to what these fish require they should be fine especially if you buy them locally. One of my tanks is a Juwel 450 too. Really great tanks in my opinion.

Thanks ever so much Tara. Think it turned out not too bad at all. I just used the rotary tool with the charge it came with in it which I'm assuming would not have been a full charge. I used it for quite a while and it didn't run out so must be not bad for holding a charge. Think it's more for lighter tasks than heavy duty use though.

Thanks E.J. Always been a planted guy same as yourself but since I have done this I have found great pleasure in a different kind of fish keeping I have to admit. My experience with the Chinese Algae Eater is that the tend not to be as interested in eating algae as they mature but we all have different experiences I guess. It's a nice idea and I appreciate the suggestion. I'll need to think about it. Take care sir. Daniel.

Please avoid putting Chinese algae eaters with peaceful fish. They tend to eat the slime-coat, off docile species, particularly goldfish.

@ejbrinegar yes I am very familiar with that fish. They tend to be more boisterous if they aren't getting enough protein in their diet also. Would imagine the Malawi would have no problem handling them though.

Yeah pretty pleased with how well it's going. Helping me to have different plants in that tank and the water is like glass with the overhead sump and the FX on it.

I did a video about Bamboo Shrimp which are quite similar. It's in my species profile playlist. Admittedly it is quite an old video, one of my early ones. May need to think about doing an updated version right enough.
